NEWCOMER ENTERS MERCER COUNTY RACE

(Celina, Ohio) Don Holtvoigt of Celina has entered the race for Mercer County Commissioner.  Holtvoigt, a substitute teacher for Mercer County Schools, was employed 38 years in the practice of Human Resources for a variety of industry including public service, defense contracting, health care, manufacturing and private consulting.  He also owned and managed a performance horse farm for two decades.

A native of Dayton and a graduate of Chaminade High School and Wright State University, Holtvoigt has dedicated a lifetime of volunteer service to his community.  He has served as President of the Miami Valley Human Resources Association and the Findlay Area Human Resources Association. His volunteerism included serving as President of the Greater Dayton Jaycees, receiving its highest honor, that of Jaycees International Senator. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Jaycee Housing Corporation.  He presided over the Board of Directors for the Gerald Petrofsky Research Foundation and sat as Third Vice Chair Board of Directors, American Red Cross local chapter. Holtvoigt is an active and dedicated member of the Lake Improvement Association in Celina.

Holtvoigt added, “The citizens of Mercer County enjoy the benefits of a strong agricultural economy, low unemployment, outstanding educational opportunities, a dedicated and talented workforce, and regionally attractive recreational opportunities.  It is vital for the growth of our county that we pull together as Mercer County residents to improve and expand these valuable resources. I will strive to build consensus with open and accessible communication and to promote unity through community.”

Don is married to Mary Ann Holtvoigt and has six grown children and six grandchildren, ages 3 – 17.  On any given day during the school year, you may find Holtvoigt in one of our Mercer County classrooms teaching students kindergarten through grade 12.  During warmer weather, Don enjoys boating, visiting our local community festivals and spending time with family.
